Hi,
I just noticed that there are some fresh teardowns of the new 14, 16 inch mbps, Really want to thank those who shared those teardown pics... As we know the old 2016-2017 mbp suffered from the flexGate/stagelight problem because the flexi cable connecting the logic board to the display is designed too short and after xxx open-close cycle it will crack causing some of the backlit be turned off, the repair requires replacement of whole display which costs a lot.

Apple realized this problem and lenghtened their flexicable by 2mm on 2018 MBP.... But this time, I don't know if I identify correctly the display cable, but it seems that they are tight ( ).... Did apple make the engineering mistake again?

If I buy a MBP, I plan to use it for 4 yrs, so even if I purchase apple care, on the 4th year, it will cause problem...
What are your thoughts?

Thanks
Ivan

I think you are over thinking it, if Apple addressed the issue previously they are going to either continuing to use that solution or have come up with a better solution.

I'll think more on how to use the powerful new tool to make more money, instead of worrying on some bad thing could happen on the way. At the end, it's just a computer and well-covered by AppleCare+ for at least 3 years.

If these new MBPs are going to have recall-tier hardware issues, it will probably be something new that Apple didn't anticipate. Externally it seems clear Apple was determined to make this generation a no nonsense machine, correcting past "mistakes". Internally I'd expect the same mentality, just the 14" teardown you showed already tells us they would rather waste space for proper cooling with huge fans while fitting less batteries. I don't expect the recent hardware issues in the touch bar era MBPs to be carried over to this gen at all.
