Will the new airpods pro 2 charging case be interchangable with 1st gen airpods

I'm in a bit of a pickle. My airpods pro 1st gen charging case crapped out on the left side. The rightside is charging well, but the leftside is kaput. I just went to apple and got both my airpods replaced to completely new ones due to the NC not working properly. They didn't replace the charging case just the pods as it wasn't included in the replacement program.

I was wondering if the airpod pro pods would be interchangable between the 1st and 2nd gen, if so I was just thinking to wait until they start selling the airpods pro 2nd gen charger case seperately and buy then?

I am so annoyed by the copper contacts in apple airpods, I had the original airpods 1 and the left charging port crapped out exactly the same way. My overall experience is that apple wireless earphones won't last 2 years...

Im also wondering the same thing…
But will Apple really sale the new gen case separately ?

It won't. If you try and use them in the wrong case, it will throw a warning that the case is mismatched.
