Noo, 8800 FTW
Or at lest the ability to upgrade to one. Technology is not slowing down, so using "yesterdays" technology in todays systems just makes them less compelling compared to other products. I mean ive seen 8800's in mid-range systems now (PC) so a 320mb 8800 in an iMac surley wouldnt be TOO much cost wise.
Ok btw so the 8600 is at least part of the new 8xxx series (not yesterdays technology) but it can only get worse from where it is now performance wise, not better. If Apple are serious about trying to offer a good platform for games too, they need to offer the high-end versions. The higher end 8800 will look a lot better for games launched next year, than an 8600 is going too. Dispite its name i believe the 8600 is still pretty crippled compared to its older brother.
