Hell, why didn't they release the trackpad at the WWDC - assuming they even actually made it.

I doubt apple will ever make the TrackPad standard, I could see it as maybe a free option in place of the Magic Mouse.
 
They should just add some more gestures to the magic mouse. I bet that could be done with a software update.

A stand alone trackpad might be cool if it doubles as a Wacom tablet though.

Chances are the next one or two updates of the iMac will be evolutionary and not revolutionary, though, so I wouldn't count on any changes to the offering other than behind the hood specs. If this trackpad is released it'll probably be a standalone device.
 
If they do ever ship with an optional trackpad, I would still want to use a mouse. Trackpads are great for laptops but when you have the desk space to use a mouse, why wouldn't you want to?
