Hello. Will the print at the corners and edges of the new mbp wears off over time? This happened to my Thinkpad and it does not look good. I wonder if it is a good idea to put scotch tape to cover these areas.

OP, your question can't really be answered. The most anyone here has had their SR MBP for is 53 days. Who knows what'll happen in the future?

That being said, there are limited reports of people having paint flaking with the previous generations of MBPs. Afaik, this isn't very prevalent.

my early 2005 powerbook looks as good as new..save a dent in the top case from something being dropped on it.

I ordered my SR MBP the day they came out, and am already starting to see some pitting on the palmrests. This is with heavy use and i guess my palms sweat some. Still though, one month with pitting is unaceptable. I think, i may go to the applestore and see if they can do anything about it. I'm going to pick up some type of protection soon.

I imagine that it is the same here as with the other MBP's, there have not been any note of changes to the case

Most likely true. There hasn't been a reason for Apple to drastically modify the exterior.

Based on the previous generation MBPs, I guess we can identify some "weak" areas that could potentially wear off over time. Then, try to do something to protect those areas. Besides the palm rest, where else?
For the palm rest, I use the Matrix wrist film #02. As for the trackpad, I use the TrackPad Slick Film #02. All from Micro Solution Inc:

If they're anything like the powerbooks the wristrest area has a coating that can pit and come off.

This is definitely an issue now with my almost four year old PB, and whether or not the MBPs too have this problem will most likely determine whether I get a MB or MBP. It seems MBPs do not have this problem as badly as previous PBs.
