Will the thin bezels be a problem when holding the device?

I’m one of the people who are looking forward to the new design, however as I sit here reading macrumors on my 2015 12.9” iPad Pro, I notice that I’m resting my thumbs on the large bezels. I wonder if this will be a problem on the new thin-bezeled iPads? Will this lead to inadvertent “clicks”?

Apple’s thumb / palm rejection algorithm is really good, plus from the mockups so far, the bezels are not so thin that you can’t rest your thumb.

I notice I’m holding it on the lip of my case, not the bezel, so I think I’ll be ok

if you don't have any problem when you are using in portrait mode an 10.5" ipad pro...then you are fine
I guess all 4 bezels will be the same width as the 10.5" side ones

The bezel on the new iPad Pro will be slightly a bit thicker then on the iPhone, so I don’t think touch response on holding the iPad Pro will be a issue. I feel that Apple will not go full bezel-less on the iPad since a lot of people like to hold it rather then use as a standard “computer” with keyboard.

I wouldn’t worry. Apple has already put awesome palm rejection technology in the iPad pros. I am sure they will address the thinner bezels with awesome thumb rejection technology.

Me personally, I never have issues with touching the screen while holding the iPad. When I hold it, I cup the back of the iPad with my fingers and press the edges of the iPad against my palms. Then type with my thumbs. When holding it in portrait mode in one hand I cup the iPad with my fingers & palm of my left hand and my thumb runs up the side bezel barely a quarter of an inch. I don’t think I would have any problems with the new iPad pros at all even without thumb rejection technology.

I bet Apple has already manufactured prototypes and used them extensively. So no, this won't be a problem.

I usually hold my iPad mini with half my hand on the screen as it is, no functional problems with false touch recognition

I bought the 10.5 when it came out, and picked up the 2nd gen 12.9 maybe 3-4 months ago. The thin bezel was my biggest issue with the 10.5. If I was laying down and holding the ipad in landscape mode surfing the web or watching YouTube i was constantly having the edge of my hand or thumb giving input and causing me to go back a page out exit a video etc because i’d be touching the screen at the top left where the thick top and slim side bezel meets.(top right if holding it in portrait). Even trying to be conscious of keeping my hand to the side the natural comfortable position for me seems to be holding it at the top left and lower right.

Never had the issue with my air 2 and don’t have and issue with the 12.9. I do have the intermittent freezing on the 12.9 though

I’d definitely want to try the new one before committing to it as those thin bezels all the way around scare me. If apple can sort out the freezing issues I think I’ll be happy to skip this upgrade cycle.

I was more interested in the new pencil anyway and it doesn’t sound like they’ve actually done anything to improve the drawing feel itself.
