By true, I'm meaning a method where we don't have to go through the rigmarole of downgrading to 1.1.1 etc.

Are the dev teams working on a real 1.1.2 hack ? Seems to me it's been a bit quiet on that front, and with the tiff exploit closed I would've thought this should have opened up the challenge to jailbreak the phone for the future.

Does the downgrade to 1.1.1 to jailbreak and then back up to 1.1.2 reliably work? Does this affect the phone functioning? What about storage? (not 300MB)?

im trying this now, along with activation (on an o2 sim, just not an iphone contract)

will post results in 20 mins, waiting for rapidshare to allow my download...

I'd certainly appreciate you thoughts on the process too. The hackers seem very quiet.....

Im not sure if im late but i just updated to 1.1.2 and i was wondering if App.Tapp or any other kind of installer as good as App.Tapp will ever work anything other than 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2 like the new 1.1.2 cause i really miss it and i dont want to downgrade

Im hopping that they will come out with something for 1.1.2. there isnt anything yet except to downgrade.

Windows downgrade

I read thru the guide. However, I was wondering is there a Windows way of doing this? iNdependence is just for Macs which sorta s**ks. I want to downgrade so bad (little brother updated phone without Ocktoprep...don't worry he had his beating lol) but I have a Windows not a Mac. Which program is usable to get the iPhone out of DFU (Restore mode) after the 1501 error in Windows?

apptapp and many custom apps work on 1.1.2
apptapp may say it doesnt, but that is simply referring to the jailbreak, not the actual program

took me 10 minutes on WINDOWS VISTA

I started with an unlocked iphonesimfree 1.1.1 iphone
I installed oktoprep
I upgraded to 1.1.2
I downloaded the jailbreak software (for the program to recognize my iphone I had to open itunes and wait for the at&t activation page (by the way, I switched my sim from t-mobile to nonactivated at&t. You also need java runtime for program to work
After I jailbroke, I installed winscp, and I went into the sim interface but putting ip address of the iphone. (I found this number once in 1.1.1, in preferences---general---my wireless connection. typed password alpine and username root. then I searched through Iphone folder and replaced lockdwond file in usr/liberex/lockdwnd, with the hacked version that is given in the site where jailbreak is found. I booted the phone with t-mobile sim, and wallah, unlocked 1.1.2, with installer and openssh installed.

IF YOU HAVE TO DOWNGRADE AND ARE STUCK WITH ERROR 1015 in itunes when restoring to 1.1.1. If your in windows download ibrickr 9.1 and it'll boot the phone, then just jailbreak with jailbreakme.com method, It is so simple, there's millins of links outhere.

ibrickr latest version.

while having a 1.1.2 method would be nice, just consider this

the 1.1.1 method was by luck, it isnt truly jailbroken, if it wasnt for the error by apple of having that tiff backdoor then 1.1.1 would be in the same boat as 1.1.2 and not have a jailbreak

just downgrade to 1.1.1, patch it up, and go bak to 1.1.2

Help

So I was stupid and when I first got my iPhone I thought o look a new update looks like I should update. But what I did not know was that jailbreak does not work on 1.1.2. So I got screwed so I am reading all the downgrading things and I saw this one site that told me everything and it says hold shift and click restore and click the file. Then you will have to choices to start a new iPod... Or something like that and then it was to start iPhone from last back up..... And then it says to chose the first one but I am confused because will that lock my phone so that when I turn it on it says activate iPhone ......... Please j really need help if anyone could help me

I would suggest NOT using iDemocracy. Sure it is a very clean app, but good old text tutorials beat it any day.
