It seems to odd to me that these two watch bands are size-specific, and I'd like to see everyone's opinion regarding if the size-exclusivity will remain indefinitely.

I find the size discrepancy odd too, but I'm guessing whatever reason Apple had to go this route, that reason isn't likely to change anytime soon.

I'm not sure why, but I presume there must be a reason for them to be size exclusive, as every other strap comes in both sizes.

For that reason, I don't think we'll be seeing a 38mm leather loop or a 42mm modern buckle anytime soon.

Modern Buckle is definitely feminine and since woman's watches are usualy smaller size there is no reason to make modern buckle for 42 mm. There will be a lot men ( probably including me ) to buy 38 mm because their wrist is too slim for 42 mm. Leather loop is not the same case. It is not strictly only men strap but it is more masculine than others and Apple's marketing division probably decide to seperate them for the marketng purpose.

I don't find the modern buckle feminine, there are a couple colors that are but the midnight blue is very much unisex.

Word is the Modern Buckle will be available for the 42mm next year but sold as Retro Buckle to attract hipsters.

I have to disagree. As you can see from official pics the modern buckle is advertised only with women.

Simply:

The Sport edition is unisex ( 38 and 42 mm ).

The Apple Watch has three options:
1) Plastic, Classic Buckle, Milanese Loop, Link Bracelet are for both versions ( 38 and 42 mm ) because their look does not appear to be more feminine or muscular.
2) Leather Loop ( only 42 mm ) in three colors - men.
3) Modern buckle ( only 38 mm ) in three colors - women.

The Apple Watch edition has three options:
1) Rose Gold with White plastic band ( 38 and 42 mm ) - unisex
2) Yellow Gold with Black plastic or Midnight zblue classic buckle ( 42 mm ) - men
3) Rose Gold with modern buckle or Yellow Gold with modern buckle ( 38 mm ) - women

----------

Of course that doesn't mean you can't buy them. I'll be very happy to see some man with modern buckle, believe me. And why there are straps for women and men? Because it is a PERSONAL device. They had to distinct some of their straps. It is logical.

The modern buckle, I can see as being feminine if I squint. Why the leather loop should be seen as masculine, I can't fathom. Especially since the Milanese loop is apparently unisex.

A woman can most certainly pull off any of the models, but you can't say the same about most men especially with the quite feminine bright red, rose gray and pink straps.

You made a poll for something you, I or anyone else here knows nothing about? The threads here are getting so stupid. How are we going to know the answer?

These polls are the same as betting on horse races. Nobody knows which horse will win. It's just fun to bet on the outcome.

I never said I was looking for a definitive answer, did I? What's the point of a poll if someone knows the answer?

Polls such as "what's your favourite" or "how many will you buy" are meaningful. Such as yours is like asking " how many times do u think Tim Cook goes to the toilet per day". Nobody knows the answer. I'm sure you will find out on Monday.

If you don't like the poll, simply leave. No one's requiring you to stay, or even be here at all in the first place.

I would hope they'd release a 38mm variant of the leather loop, because I want the 38mm Sport.

I think a fair number of men will get the blue modern buckle.

I just think that even if it does cater to a particular gender, why not release them in both? They would make more money. I certainly know I would purchase the Leather Loop for my sport if they had it in a 38mm
