I love android but I find myself wanting to switch back to the iPhone because of its superior feel. My question is will there ever be an android phone designed as well as the iphone? Made out of premium materials? And if there already are will you post their names so i can check them out?

I haven't seen any that match the iPhone in precision, materials, or engineering but some are still pretty great. I personally love the One X, and the new Razr HD (that one is kinda ugly though, IMO).

if anyone will do it I believe Sony will.

The material they use on the back of some phones feels 'premium' and they have already made a full unibody phone, xperia P.

They do have a lot of catching up to do so won't happen any time soon.

xperia V also looks slick...

Probably not unless android makers opt to go with an Apple model of 1 device a year, and a two year cycle for a full re-design.

When you spread design costs over two years you save millions which allows you to make a better phone out the gate.

That model would not go over well in the android world where one upsmanship is the constant name of the game

But the HTC ONE-X also proves you can make an amazing looking phone on android.

Probably not...

The big challenge is of course that if you can get the same screen/performance/features in a bit 'simpler' package very few will pay 100 bucks or more extra for a more refined casing.

I am quite sure that if Apple had two versions of their phones (identical screens and performance) - one with glass/metal and another with a more traditional polycarbonate cover the sales of the glass/metal one would be quite small.

It has been proven time and time again in for example the portable PC market - very few people are interested in paying a premium for getting a more visually pleasing computer when you get the same tech with duller looks a lot cheaper.

Some of these Chinese manufacturers have stunning designs. Oppo Finder looks great.

It would be good for competition if they released their phones worldwide.

That looks like one of those fan based iphones on youtube :D

I bet that is where they got there design from....save on R&D

There's no need for one. It's not their goal.

No need? Oh...so what is their goal?

My One X feels extremely solid.

The One X+, a slight spec bump, is going to be announced on the 19th.

Since apple got it's way with samsung I would definitely have to say no. But the Note II might be a winner.

Does the iPhone use different aluminum, glass and plastic than other phones do?

What do you mean "made out of premium materials"? Its made in China like most others are using the same materials. GS3 uses Gorilla glass 2. Not sure the iPhone uses it at all but if it does, ...well isnt that the same thing?

My Wifes HTC Radar has an aluminum back. I guess it must be one of those using premium materials?

I have a GS3 but today I held my friends One X and I was really tempted to get one just because of the build quality!

Just one of the reasons why I moved from Samsung (GSII and Note) to HTC this year.

I fully intended to pick up a GSIII, but went with the One X mainly due to the better build quality and clearer display. Such a shame that they didn't implement a Plus panel, felt like a bit of a downgrade from the GSII imho.

Picking up a Note II though- there still isn't any serious competition to that :)

I didn't get to look at the screen much so I can't comment on that but boy did love the build quality.

I'll probably be picking up the next Nexus. I want a stock Android experience and not have to worry about the issues I'm having with AOSP ROMs I'm using on my GS3.

I'm running CM10 on my One XL- all of the major issues have already been resolved. No wakelocks, audio for music/calls works through headset, camera/video recording works great, LTE switching works as it should, etc. I'm kinda surprised at how well it runs actually.

No memory leak? That's the thing that's bugging me the most with JB AOSP ROMs and why I'm back to CM9.
