I know there was a rumor that there could be an event scheduled for March 24th. Would an event still be possible?

Well, there are enough other interesting things Apple could still release via a special event:

Netbooks for one. Just to get some extra press.

Or the fabled iPod touch based tablet.
I can see that they won't release this in June together with the iPhone to not steal its thunder.

Snow Leopard.
It might come out by the end of this quarter. Or at least get an official presentation and release date somewhen in April.

iTunes event.
Movie rentals, App Store expanded to eBooks and Mac applications, plus introduction of a new Apple TV or perhaps even a real TV set by Apple.

There are possibilities...

Personally, I think they'll update the iPod touch to 64GB and the iPhone to 32GB, as well as bring the Push Notification Service/Background App solution to fruition. Finally, I think that Apple will finally update the 30" Cinema Display to the new LED models. Note that Gizmodo's mystery box (http://i.gizmodo.com/5162911/what-is...ge-mystery-box) has still not been opened. Basically that means that the product in there (obviously Apple-related) wasn't released Tuesday.

What are your thoughts?

With flash memory taking a huge leap forward recently in storage capacity, the possibility of a 128 GB iPod touch is no longer far-fetched. I wouldn't be surprised that the 120 GB iPod classic is dropped in favor of this new version of the iPod touch.
