Hi, I would like to buy an iMac in store (I just prefer buying in store rather than online)

However, I see that "customizations" are only available online...and the only customization I want on my iMac is that instead of the wireless keyboard and magic mouse (I find the keyboard really flimsy and moves when I type...magic mouse just feels uncomfortable) so I wanted the Wired Keyboard and Apple Mouse.

Do you guys think that they will exchange them for free in store like how they offer online? Anyone here with personal experience of this working? Thanks

Thanks.

You could always call the Apple store and ask? Each apple store is different, and each employee is different. Some people may allow this, while other don't. Best to call the store and ask.

You can ask but I doubt it because they cannot sell the wireless KB and Magic Mouse because they are not in retail packages. However, you can buy them separately and then sell the wireless KB and Magic Mouse in eBay. If you keep them unused in the plastic, you will get a nice $ off them and likely win few bucks. I wouldn't get the wired Apple mouse, it's horrible. Go with 3rd party, they are a lot better.

I bought my iMac in-store and told the guy that I really preferred the wired keyboard vs. the wireless one. Asked if there was anyway to swap out keyboards and he instead just gave me the wired keyboard with the purchase (charged me I think $1 for it). Never hurts to ask. I'll probably throw the wireless onto ebay or something.

Thanks guys, I'll try to ask nicely and say that I really want to buy it in store but he keyboard is holding me back.

Also if I were to buy in store using an educational discount, do I need to bring any forms or just my student ID?

both @ no extra cost

You'll get the wired keyboard for free and the wireless one that comes in the imac box. So you will get both keyboards for no extra cost. They'll try and talk you out of it, just say you prefer the wired keyboard. Let us know the outcome!

Just your student ID. Must be valid.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have just bought the extra wired keyboard and either sold the wireless one, or kept it an used it for my PS3. Oh well.

I ordered a refurb i7 so couldn't change the contents and just bought a wired keyboard with numeric keypad. I figure I'll use the wireless one with PS3 but not sure how that works yet (never tried). Found some threads which says it works though!
