I was using Netflix on my iPad Air 2 the other day, and I'm using iOS 9 beta 5. I was wondering if Netflix or Hulu will be able to use picture in picture even though they are third party apps. So far, the only videos that work for this are videos that are streamed from safari or anything in my movies app.

I imagine app developers are very hard at work including iOS 9 functionality. When Apple releases the iOS 9 GM, they will start accepting apps with iOS 9 functionality for inclusion in the app store. As usual we will see a flood of app updates just before and after iOS 9 is released to the public.

I wonder what limitations there will be. I mean, video apps like netflix are no-brainers, but what about video chat apps?

Considering Facetime works with it already, I'd imagine that wouldn't be one of the limitations.

Considering what they said at the keynote, the requirements to get it to work are rather slim, right now anything that uses Apple's video player already works

If only that were true. The amount of popular apps that, for instance, are still not optimised for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus display is surprising, especially as we're drawing very close to the release of iPhone '6S' and '6S Plus'. Heck, the eBay app was only optimised about 2 months ago.

FaceTime works with PIP? I never realised that, and I am running the beta. Holy, I have to try that one of these days!

Finally got around to trying this.. Does not work with FaceTime. If it does, it's not obvious at all. Only have 3 buttons (switch cameras, hang up, mute).

Even tried pressing the home button, but it only pauses the video.
