It's a nice handy lens to have... will work great with the D40. You are right, stick with AF-S (silentwave) lenses on the D40. Enjoy it!

yeah... i knew that, i was just browsing through pricegrabber, and i just wanted to make sure it was compatible. But, i could always price match. Ive done that a lot recently. Its easier, because BB is closer to me... and BH is closed on fridays and saturdays, and i usually buy stuff on the weekends. But price matching is easier anyway... But thanks anyways

Since it's AF-S, it'll work great on the D40. I have the version without AF-S and vibration reduction for my D50 (which can autofocus legacy AF lenses) and it's an amazing lens.
