will this mac pro span a couple more years?

hey guys,

i have gone for an iMac / macbook combo. but TBH the last few days realised i might not be able to fund both upgrades. for this reason i have decided to consider a mac pro with a 29" monitor instead on the iMac, but still get the macbook.

my questions are, will this spec :
mac pro 2.66 quad core, 16gb 1066 ram, 240gb SSD, nvidia geforce 120

will this be a fast computer for the next 18-24 and are they likely to support the latest OS for this timeframe?

also will this computer run CS : GO (only game i will be playing) at low setting OK?

What does "fast" mean? A 2.66 quad with GT 120 isn't particularly powerful, but desktop interactions etc will be pretty quick with the SSD.

Yes, the latest OS is likely to be supported for the next two years.

Basically, the model number has been incremented by 1.

(Only firmware differences - the 4,1 can be upgraded to a 5,1 by installing the 5,1 firmware.)

Hey op,

I'd say you'll be golden with the 4,1 as is. You'll be above the CS: GO requirements, according to Steam (ATI Radeon HD 2400). Plus, if you need to, you can chuck a better graphics card in at a later date. I'm guessing you know that the macbooks are going to be updated shortly, so best to hang on for that if you can.
