Hey,

I am planning to upgrade my 27" 2.93 GHz i7 iMac first to 12 GB and later to 16 GB. It comes with only 2x2GB Apple memory installed.

Now I wonder: Will this (link) OCZ ram work together with the Apple RAM so that I can have 12 GB and not only 8?

http://www.ocztechnology.com/produc...z-ddr3-pc3-10666-ddr3-sodimm-4gb-edition.html

According to the page it’s CL 9-9-9-20. Most other chips I’ve seen are denoted as CL 9-9-9-24 or just CL9. I have searched through most forum articles about that topic but I’m not entirely sure. Clock speeds match though no idea about different CAS latencies.

Btw, I could also get 4GB from other vendors:

G.Skill €88
GeIL €90
OCZ €90 (price for comparison)
Kingston €120
Samsung €110

What should I buy?

I have the exact setup you're considering, 2x2GB stock memory + 2x4GB OCZ. Works great, no problems.
