Hey y'all! New to the forum by the way!
I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro A1502 Retina Model. I recently dropped it and the screen didn't turn on but the computer was still functional. After getting the "main" cable replaced (I got someone to fix it because I don't know much at all about computers, aka the cable in the hinge), and once I got it back, the screen was now working, but one of the color quadrents was broken.

So now I want to replace the top assembly. I found the correct replacement for it, the numbers match up.

MY MAIN QUESTION I've heard some people say that a replacement won't work because the "firmware won't match" or because of the serial number. I've heard the same thing about home button replacements for iPhones. SO MY QUESTION: will the top assembly replacement work?

It really depends on what you mean by top assembly. Are you referring to the assembly with the keyboard and trackpad or are you referring to the display screen and outer shell with the Apple logo?

Display screen and outer shell with Apple logo.

The display needs to come from a late 13 or mid 2014. The early 2015 will cause a problem.
Right, the replacement part I am going to buy is the 2013 to 2014. However, what I am asking is: will it actually work? Because what some people have told me is a display that came off of another Macbook wouldn’t work on another one. Is this true or will the replacement work?

The replacement should work. I've done the deal before with no issues at all. It's important to use compatible part numbers.

The firmware looks for particular parts during the boot process, not the serial number of the display.

Okay, thank you!!!
