I think I have corruption on my iPad Pro 11", iOS 12.4 with Messages, it all works fine except I get no badges when unread messages come in.
I have iCloud Messages set up and synced between this iPad, and iPhone, and a MacBook Pro.
I have tried restoring backups, hard resets, all combinations of stopping the app, toggling the badges in notifications, etc., with no luck. By the way there are tons of people who have issues with the badges not working on iOS Messages, but I have not found a reliable solution except possibly installing new.
I really don't want to install new and download and configure many many apps, so I thought of this to see if the corruption goes away:
1. Turn off iCloud Messages on iPad.
2. As a test, delete 1 message.
3. Turn on iCloud Messages.
Will the deleted message come back? If it does, then I can turn off iCloud messages, delete every messages, turn on iCloud messages, and let it repopulate - and then I can see if the badges comes back. This is how Contacts works if stored in iCloud (except with Contacts it gives you the option to delete or retain the local copy).
What do you think of this, or is there another way I can attempt to fix this?
