I hope I don't sound too stupid, but will this carry audio?

I don't know if Apple's mini display port carries audio and, if it does, if it is transferred through the display port to hdmi adaptor.

AFAIK mini DVI and mini DP do not carry sound. miniDP could, but Apple's mDP monitors use USB to get sound - so it is likely there is no sound.

OP - let us know it has sound.

sound from mini display port

I read another thread that discussed this and it seems that the standard for mini display ports includes audio BUT, and I find this interesting, Apple does not use audio in their implementation of the mdp. So, the new Monoprice mdp adaptor will support dhcp (are those the right initials?), but not audio when used with any recent mac.

My thoughts on this: Apple why include minidisplayport if you won't fully take advantage of its capabilities?

Hi guys, just received it. I put my TV on and went to the HDMI channel and it said no signal. I then plugged in my adapter to the back of my mini and my hdmi cable in the tv, in the adapter. It then says 'No Supported'. Any ideas what I can do?

Try changing the resolution of the mac to 720p (1280x720) or 1920x1080 if your TV supports 1080p. My tv shows Not supported if the resolution is too high, reducing it should sort it out.
