I don't know if iMovie (in iLife '06) imports videos through USB, but I can say for sure that iMovie (in iLife '05) and before will simply refuse to even recognize USB for importing video - only FireWire would work for videos. The way these iLife applications look at things, FireWire is for video and USB is for photos.
Confirm if iMovie '06 can use USB for importing videos first (I highly doubt it).
I can't imagine that it'll work with iMovie. Your best bet would have been the EyeTV software from elgato, but the product isn't listed in their compatible peripherals list.
