Hi Guys,

Just saw a samsung 250GB 1.8" HDD ! here is the link :

Some of the more daring ones on the forum have opened and dissected the MBA and know the internal's very well.

Maybe you could explore, could we take the Samsung disk out of its enclosure and would it fit into a MBA Rev B ?

Once removed from the enclosure, it would need the correct interface (connection). In the case of Rev B, I believe it is LIF. There are a lot of unknowns. Not all HDs removed from enclosures have standard connections. Some are soldered. If someone could find all the specs on this drive, it would help to determine. Then there is the controller hardware in the drive. It might not be compatible with the MBA.

Totally agree there are too many ifs.

Could we call on our technically savier/explorer to have a look at this question ? and if it is possible to plug that samsung disk in an MBA B onwards - could we achieve the disk space nirvana !

From the description it would appear that the drive in the enclosure is 8mm which is a 2 platter design. The MacBook Air uses 1-platter designs at 5mm; for this reason we are currently stuck at 120GB.
