I plug my harddrive in and let it do the time machine thing. Does this mean all my movies will backup onto the HD? When I try to search in the hardrive I cant seem to find the movies and tv shows that I want backed up......and I need to get them out of my laptop...any suggestions?

Alternatively, you can exclude things. I exclude a few drives in my Mac Pro and Video_TS folders.

see, I just did a timemachine backup. I then went into the movies on my laptop and deleted one that i didnt need. I then "searched it" in the Hard drive and its nowhere to be found. leaving me to conclude that it is not backing up my movies. should I manually drag them?

What do you mean you "searched it"? If you want to retrieve a file that used to be in the folder, you hit the Time Machine button in the Dock and it takes you to the Time Machine app.

If you mean via Spotlight, the Time Machine backup is not meant to be searchable in that way.
