If I'm not mistaken, Apple Watch will connect to the iPhone via bluetooth but I'm not sure how much of a drain that will be. All the battery saving tips I've heard say turn off bluetooth.

Anybody who uses bluetooth frequently, can you chime in?

I doubt it. I'm sure the Apple Watch is using low powered bluetooth. I use multiple bluetooth devices throughout the day, and have bluetooth turned on 24/7. No noticeable effect on battery life.

Bluetooth 4.0 (used since the iPhone 4s) uses VERY little power.

My bluetooth is always on, I have a Pebble, and use my car bluetooth everyday.

I haven't noticed any difference in my battery life, infact, because the iPhone's screen is on a lot less, it's improved my battery life.

Awesome! So great to hear. Thanks for the intel :) Makes me more confident in buying an Apple Watch.

Now hopefully the watch itself doesn't drain fast :(

The opposite.

It's the screen on the phones that use most energy. We turn it on and off constantly. Using the Watch will increase the iPhone's battery life.

Exactly this. You'll take the phone out of your pocket far less often especially when checking notifications and short messages that you can reply with canned responses.

Yes, true.

The idea is that you will be using the phone less, therefore the phone battery lasts longer.
