Given that we know a design update is coming although not ready, does anyone think we will get a price adjustment in the meantime?

Probably not, but us folks in the UK might see Apple increase their price here due to the current value of the pound.

Apple typically does not discount their products as they approach the end of their lifecycle. Here in the USA, sometimes modest discounts are available through resellers. Also, I've seen "discounts" increase on the Refurb units.

You mean in mid '17 when the new ones roll around?

Probably

But why post a thread on it now, that isn't even remotely close to now.

As I understand it we already have confirmation we won't have an iMac update at the upcoming event so just buy now. That's what I did.

It will be interesting to see what happens on Thursday. If there is no iMac update and no discount on the current models then I see no incentive to buy this year.

Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't they just added hundreds of pounds onto all the Macs ?

So, no new iMac, real shame, very disappointing. I decided I might as well buy a refurb, then when I checked the refurb I was thinking of getting has gone up £300 !!!!

I have just decided I cannot affords Macs anymore. I will keep my old Mac Mini 2012 and MacBook 2011 going for as long as possible, and wait for exchange rates to improve. You never now, maybe someday this century Apple will update the iMac......

My fully maxed out Late 2015 iMac (512GB SSD, 395X and i7) has gone up in price by £479.

OUCH!

Was £2409 when I bought it in January and now it sells for £2879!!

I was expecting that to happen because of the currency drop. That's why a few days ago I bought a maxed-out iMac from the UK Apple store (because of how cheap it was in euros) and shipped it to myself in the Netherlands. Saved many hundreds of euros compared to buying it from the Dutch Apple store ;)

Was a pretty risky strategy since they could have announced a new one today, but I saved a lot of money in turns out.

Yes, all iMac models just increased by £350 in the UK. Annoying, as I was holding off on purchasing one so that I could wait and see if anything new was announced. Nothing was, and now the price has gone sky high for the exact same item.

Fortunately, none of the resellers or high-street stores have increased their prices (yet), so I immediately purchased through Currys before they did the same (if they do).

A real shame, but Apple has always indiscriminately increased their prices like this when any foreign currency loses value. I can't imagine how they can sustain such a substantial and offensive price hike across their entire product line. A lot of consumers won't accept it.

I'm glad I purchased my refurbished iMac when I did, thinking this would happen. A 27-inch refurbished iMac now costs almost as much as what a new iMac was priced at yesterday.
