That use the dock connector and mount like a traditional desktop cam would?

No one here works high up enough in apple to answer the question, even if they did they couldn't answer.

From a theoretical standpoint I would say no we won't.

I meant 3rd party:confused:

I was thinking the same thing. They must be planning something to add a camera function especially with HP announcing their tablet with 2 cameras.

I was wondering this myself. I don't have a real need for it but I was thinking someone may come up with a way to hook in a webcam through the connector.

This makes more sense than building it in, because most people wont use a built in camera anyways

I believe there are licensing $$$$ issues if you develop an accessory that takes advantage of the dock connector and an app. It's probably why you don't see many devices yet. You would think someone would've made a bluetooth game controller or more accessories that take advantage of the dock connection

I'd say yes... at some point, this will happen... unless Apple decides to lay the smack down on 3rd party developers for making accessories that use the 30-pin connection.

Personally, I'm waiting for the 2nd gen. iPad with camera, 512MB RAM and standalone Apple Dictionary app.

Due out in October!!

nice thought but unlikely. iphone os devices have been and likely will stay on a 12 month cycle.

so only the ipod touch is likely to do anything in October (if not last Sept).
