Hello all,

since apple released the updates for bootcamp in 3 different versions - XP, Vista32/64, I'm not sure which windows to install now.

All I want now is XP running 64 bit if that's possible. If not, vista 64 will have to do the job.

Those of you thinking why I want to run 64 instead of the 86 is that I have 4gb ram and in 32bit it only supports up to 3gb.

XP 64 has always been a runt. I would not really recommend it. Does the extra 1GB make that much difference to you? I guess you should go with Vista 64 bit.

well I don't want to let the other gigabyte of ram just to sit there and look pretty.

vista is so bloated and that's why I'm trying to avoid it... gosh, i hope that it'll work either way, but the update is huge! 200+mb and I don't want to download something and it turns out not accepting 4gb.

Dude, I've been running Vista Ultimate x64 (yes, that would be 64-bit) since SP1 was released and it is running better than XP ever would. 64-bit is the future, and Vista is the only Windows OS that's gonna deliver on that front. It's not "bloated" like you say it is. It runs games fine, runs applications fine, runs itself fine. I have no idea where this hate comes from. These people must not have ever tried Vista for more than 5 minutes.

Anyway, my point is get Vista x64. XP x64 is a joke, even Microsoft lovers will admit that. Driver support on Vista x64 is very good as long as you're on fairly new hardware (past 2 years or so). So you can keep drinking the Vista-haterade, or give it a try. I think you'll like it.

XP 64 is terrible. Stay away. Vista 64 is a much better and complete OS (probably more complete than the 32bit version). XP 64 feels like some half assed beta that MS slapped together as an internal concept to test out 64bit stuff.
