iOS Will you be able to stop your app from running on the iPad?

Can you opt to keep your app iPod touch/iPhone only? I know it may increase revenue to have it on the iPad, but if you think your game or app isn't well suited for the iPad can you opt out?

I don't believe so, their plan is to make all apps universal. And by this meaning if you already have an app out they want you to make it so it runs on iphone and ipad respectively. So the user will only need one app. In my eyes this means iPhone = view1 of app ipad = view2 of app so you can take advantage of the screen size.

Ah right. I guess I can see the advantages (pay once and get the app on all platforms). But it seems kind of bad in cases such as a games where a certain type of game was built with the iPhone screen in mind - it's 2 different levels of "portable".

If it really was a concern for you, you could use the UIDevice class to detect if running on an iPad and display an alert to the user.

Interesting to see the effect that would have on a user. Just releasing the iPad will create a raised expectation bar from users. They're used to high standards. No version of your app without reasoning? User gets annoyed. No iPad version, but explained? User looks to your rivals.

It's mere presence = pressure on developers.

I'm guessing there will be an option for iPad only, for apps that were written strictly to run on the iPad, but apps that are iPhone/iPod only (i.e. all current apps) will still run on the iPad.
