Will you mod your software/firmware?

The hackers are making great progress, but for the average Joe, Jailbreak and the related hacks are a bit daunting. Things are getting easier all the time, but there are still kinks.

So, once customizing the phone becomes idiot proof and stable, will you dive in? Or will you continue to wait to see if/when Apple will start supporting custom ringtones, 3rd party apps, etc.?

I hope that means i already modded my iphone because thats what i chose.

Anyway, i put custom ringtones, home screen icons, battery icons, carrier, EDGE, wifi, and lock symbols, and changed the slider. Believe me if i can do it, ANYONE can do it. Prior to trying to mod my iphone i never seen the terminal a day in my life. All you need to do is read the instructions carefully, and you probably have to go through a little trial and error. i suppose thats where the risk comes in, but i never did anything that a simple restore could not cure. If your going to attempt to mod your phone good luck!

Being able to put ring tones on doesn't interest me all that much.
I also want to see how apple is reacting to all the hacking with the first update as I don't think that they will sit silent on this one.
So I'll bide my time and wait just a bid longer.

It would be pretty funny if the update they release either:

A) wouldn't work on those who's phones had been modded, then when they did a restore to get the update, wouldn't allow modding anymore

or

B) turns all these modded phones into the proverbial 600 dollar paperweight

It was obvious from day one that a minor update was required. I also decided if apple didn't have an update in a month, that I would look into doing minor hacks. I'll begin hacking this weekend.
