Like many I've been waiting for the new AppleTV 4k HDR, will you use it?

https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-tv/apple-tv-4k

It will be nice to see photos and videos from my Apple devices in 4k resolution .

I bought an ATV 4, but found out you can not search for songs on your local computer, so went back to my ATV 3. This is a must-have feature, and a limited 4K offering of movies will not counter that.

There's a sure lack of 4K content. Don't think it's worth me buying it. Plus that will mean I'd need to buy a 4K tv as well.

My problem is that I don't have an hdmi pass-through in my audio system. To be able to listen to music (airplay) without having the TV on, I need an audio cable from Apple TV to my sound system. So I've been stuck with ATV 3 and still am.

That appears to only handle 1080p. The seller states that it is HDMI v 1.4 (listing says 1.3).

There seems to be a bunch of this kind of devices. If I choose one with hdmi 2.0, how sure can I be that it passes through 4K?

I would make sure the description states 4k video. Just be careful what you click on.

For example, I picked up this audio extractor a while back but if you look at the page they currently have six different devices listed.

One of them is listed as a 4k device but I don't have any experience with that one.

What files? From iTunes?

I image his photo files, this being that kind of forum. Or video. Like from YouTube maybe (in Chrome; I don't think you can do it in Safari). I use some Apple devices for media (iPhone 7), but since I wanted 4k ages ago I've never used an ATV. I use my Roku, or serve media right to my 4k TV. But hey, nice that Apple finally joined the rest of the world with 4k. Although $199???

Quickly looking at photos taken with my Canon 70D it was very impressive to see them much more clarity , color, and depth .
These are just soccer shots from last weekend.

As this is in the picture thread - can you watch slideshows from Photos etc.. in 4K and how do you do that? Can you stream from iPad or Mac?
yes slideshows from photos are selected via the computer, and in 4k, it was truly neat to see my photos in so much more resolution and depth
Also - by airplay mirror you can show anything on you apple device there, though I can't confirm if 4k or not ....
