Just a quicky.

What sort of differences can i expect other than the obvious between the different OS's? For example will one utilise my iMac's graphics card better for playing games such as MW2 on Windows.

Also the graphics update just released for 10.6.4, will that affect performance on the Windows loaded via BootCamp?

Thanks.

Just purely because it runs the games better than XP on a PC?

I have an iMac 27 i7 and I installed Windows 7 because you can buy the Windows 64bit version which uses the new processors more fully than XP would (I'm not a Windows expert, but I'm quite sure it does). Also, by having Windows 7, it'll probably be more "future proof" for future games which might not support Windows XP anymore or which might need or benefit from some Windows 7 feature.

Apparently there are some older applications/games that are not windows 7 ready, but most should run without any issues. Modern Warfare 2 is a new game so I expect it will run better under Windows 7.

You can get a 64bit version of windows xp. I prefer XP but it is nearing End of life. Windows 7 runs well and be tweaked to look like XP again if you don't like the new interface.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Windows 7. It's very good, for coming from Microsoft.
