The title says it all: I have a perfectly legitimate copy of XP and one of the updates that the windows updater wants to run is to install the Windows Genuine Advantage software. I know what WGA is and what it's purpose is and I think it's nothing more than a pain in the butt for honest people. But, since I am an honest XP owner, is there any advantage to letting it install? Does it allow future updates or something that would be impossible without it? I've heard that SP3 won't update unless the WGA crap has been installed first.
Basically, for honest people, do the benefits of letting WGA install outweigh the disadvantages?
