My iMac's due next week and I'm getting the nursery ready  I have some toys for it already, in case it gets bored, and I'm thinking about buying it a puppy, just so it will have someone of its own age to play with.

Okay, I'm kidding. Sort of.

But I'm setting up an office at home at the moment, my two very large desks are arriving from my previous home tomorrow.

Just wondering, with this glossy screen is it best to have the iMac's 'back' to the window? Is that how you all have it positioned?

Would appreciate any replies, I don't want to have to drag those desks around again next week!

Avoid having direct light shining on the screen if you like to see what you are doing. A darker office would work best from what I gather.

Two things you don't want.

1. Direct light on the screen.

2. Direct light from behind the screen reflecting back objects (i.e. you) in front.

Thanks for that. Is the better option, then, to have the iMac (and me!) slightly sideways to the window??

If you have direct sunlight coming through the window, you are going to have to play around a bit (or have curtains!). If its indirect sunlight (north-facing in the Northern Hemisphere) then you could just turn the iMacs back towards the window and that should be sufficient.

Many thanks for that, have set the desk up so the iMac will have its back to the window, hopefully that will be okay. I know it sounds daft asking for this advice before the iMac has even arrived, but was just trying to sort out the office today - and those desks are HEAVY! Thanks again.
