Windows 10 and Black video

I have 2 Mac Pros (2009, 5,1) that work great with Windows 7. Installed Windows 10 on the first and get black screen after the video driver updates to nvidia drivers. Safe mode back to Basic Video Driver and stop updates lets me back into.

Installed 10 on second Mac Pro, same issue. Black screen after video driver updates. Back to Basic Driver and back in. First Mac has a GT120 and the second a 8800GT. Both nvidia so is that the problem or something else? I have tried different drivers and get the black screen.

Any help is appreciated.

I have tried drivers new and old, same issue - boot loop and/or black screen. Anyone using Mac Pro and Nvidia drivers?

Is Windows installed as EFI or BIOS?

IIRC, someone mentioned these don't like Windows installed in EFI mode. But this is really vague memory and I cannot find that post now. And it might have been some other Nvidia card.

I run a 5,1 with Win 10 and a GT-120 but NOT with the Nvidia drivers for the GT-120. I just use the MS Basic Display Adapter.

I do this because the old Nvidia drivers are not compatible with the newer Nvidia drivers and I also run 2 1080 TI's and need to have the latest Nvidia drivers for them installed.

The GT-120 runs just fine with the Basic Drivers though.

I'm running 3 GPU's and two displays and everything is working fine here in Win 10.

Oh, I also had to block Windows from installing the driver for the GT-120 because windows kept installing the driver for the PC version of the card the 9500 GT. Unless you block windows it will install the bad driver over and over and over...

If you really want to use the correct Nvidia GT-120 driver it's included in the BootCamp Drivers install. Look in the Nvidia folder.

But, I've never run just the GT-120 with the BootCamp drivers in Win 10 so I'm not sure it will work. H9826790 may be correct, those are pretty old cards.

Someone has got to have a driver solution for the GT120... wouldn't they?

Might try installing Geforce Experience and use its driver update feature. Should always pick the correct driver for your card.
