Has anyone got this piece of **** application to work on your Windows 7 partitions? I find this type of program necessary to dual booting windows and osx and i believe there is no alternatives available.

any help is appreciated. thanks

edit: maybe compatibility mode? have not tried this but it seems like a plausible way.

I ditched that POS app after finding out they still didn't have a 64-bit version (not to mention it's way overpriced). Do this:

Download HFS+ Explorer: http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/hfsx.html (you might have to download the .zip file instead of the installer)

Right-click on the app and run it in admin. mode.

Click on File in the upper left ---> Load file system from Device. If you get confused, read the stuff under "Usage" (which is in bold) on the page linked above. If you're having any firewire issues with an external device, check out my thread here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/632235/

thanks. they have added support for x64 but way late as usual. idk who develops for them but they are insanely slow.

i was wondering if maybe it would run under that xp compatibility mode thing they just came out with.

Well, isn't this dandy!:

Windows 7 support will not be added to MacDrive 7, but will be included in the next major release of MacDrive.

How different can Win 7 be from Vista that they can't support it? It sounds to me like a way to squeeze more money out of their customers.

I gave up on MacDrive. Even set to read-only, it still caused Windows Explorer to hang randomly and made boot times much longer in XP.

You hit the nail on the head there buddy. Why make an existing (i.e. free to those who have it) product work when you can force people to upgrade? Same philosophy behind MS Office on Mac.

Personally, I am just dealing with the lack of MacDrive support for now. Their program worked just fine under Vista, and therefore SHOULD work 100% under Win7, but they locked it into only certain OS's.
I do not want to deal with the crappy (lack of) integration of the other programs.
BTW, I was able to get MacDrive to install (with a cracked version), but Windows won't start up afterwards...

In other words, I love(d) their product before, but hate their guts for intentionally dragging their feet here. I was considering actually buying their product once Win7 gets released for my various uses of it, but this makes me think that I will in no way want to support them financially, and will instead pursue other avenues in procuring their product (as it is, as I have said, the best solution overall)

Haha wow, yeah I'm not surprised. The developers are a bunch of idiots. I also like HFS+ Explorer because it's only open for the time I need to access my Mac partition instead of constantly running in the background (like MacDrive does).

As far as the whole Windows 7 version BS, they're just talking out of their ass. There is ZERO reason why it wouldn't work under Win7 if it works fine in Vista.
