From all that I've been reading, Windows 7 is shaping up to be an excellent OS so far, and is what Vista should of been.

Currently, it's on build 7000, which is the beta version. You can view screenshots of it here. Paul Thurott says that there will be one beta and one RC, and is even predicting that the final version will ship in April. I'm a bit skeptical of that prediction though, and am taking of guess of the final version to ship around June at the rate development on Windows 7 is going.

Here's a video of build 6956 in action. Windows 7 also has a new boot screen, which is much better than Vista's boot screen. People have been reporting that this build is very stable and is even faster than Vista, and that all of their Vista drivers work just fine on it. Some people may not like the way the new taskbar looks, but this gallery shows that it's customizable. Microsoft is expected to release a public beta around January 5th and will show it off at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Not sure why you would post this on a Mac Forum

Even so, it should probably be under "Windows on the Mac" and not under OS X

Is that January 2009? And as it's public can anyone get the beta?

someone on this forum was running 7 beta on a Macbook Air.
I'm pretty sure it will be better than Vista, not saying there's something wrong with the latter.
It is supposed to do the same with Vista just like 10.6 with 10.5. Slimmed down optimized less resource demanding OS, I guess.

It's not very difficult to create a new OS that's better than Vista.

Not hard at all. Not even for Microsoft.

^ yea, you just bust out the stuff you made before you made vista, rename it, and viola! a new, better, faster, cooler, OS! I'm talking about XP lol. But yea, I'm dying to try this out on Fusion. There's a Windows 7 Beta VM on VMware's site that you can download. Only 2GBs.
