I got Windows 7 Ultimate and installed it on my Core i7 imac. The first installation process went well. After a few reboots, it boots back into windows 7 and the boot up screen goes up. After THAT, the whole screen is just completely black and nothing pops up.
I've done this about 10 times and all the time, nothing happens. I even left it alone before I went to school, but still. Just blank screen.

What am I doing wrong? Am i supposed to eject the CD?

I ran across this thread a few days ago:

http://geekswithblogs.net/ajames/archive/2009/08/12/take-an-imac-and-windows-7-rtm-ndash-and-have.aspx

I just today went through the same issues and this worked like a champ. The only thing I changed was to delete the ATI drivers instead of Nvidia (there is a thread around here somewhere that goes over this is great detail).

Best of luck!

It doesn't go to a blue screen. its just a plain black screen with nothing.

you're using windows.

Yeah, that's real helpful.

Boot into safe mode (hit F8 as soon as it starts booting up). From there hit Start > Run and enter cmd32.exe

enter the following and hit enter:
del c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys

Reboot and the installer should continue to completion.

As mentioned, the problem is that the Win7 installer thinks the remote video output is the main display.

As I understand it, Apple has promised a Bootcamp update between now and the end of the year. There is currently no official support of Win 7

Correct, however, if you go to the hassle of working around the installer glitch and install the Realtek sound drivers from their website it works just fine now. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 flawlessly.

I'm looking forward to the update though since it will hopefully allow use of the Magic Mouse.

I wish people would stop posting 'Apple Don't officially support it yet responses'. Try posting to the Official Apple Support Forums and you get spammed with that response. Apple SHOULD support Windows 7, its been out for over 2 months and more if you use MSDN and ALL the bootcamp drivers on the disc work just fine (even Magic Mouse).

Windows 7, 32 bit or 64 bit does install with only 1 hiccup if you follow a guide to install it or just read about it before you do it. I have zero issues at all now and would recommend anybody to install Windows 7 over Vista or XP.

Up and down scrolling works just left/right swipe does not. Mind you, it doesnt work for any MS OS

OK, maybe I gave up on it too soon. I wasn't getting the up/down scrolling but maybe I didn't have it set up properly. I'll give it another try with the drivers on the DVD. Thanks for the info.
