Windows 7 on a mac install with flash drive [HELP!!]

I have downloaded the windows 7 iso on mac Macbook. I am out of DVDs and I have 2 flash drives. One is 2 gb and other is 1gb. And I have lots of CDs. So how can I keep the iso splitted in two flash drives or cds. I mean can we keep the iso half in one and half in another and boot and install. If we can how do i do that.
Any help is appreciated

If you try to install ANY version of OS through a USB stick, you'll fail miserably. Simply because you need to enter the BIOS and change some settings like "Boot from USB Stick" and stuff, and I am afraid Apple computers do not have a BIOS. They do have an alternative called Open Firmware, which is too complicated, so just buy a DVD man!

Guys, i forgot to mention my macbook doesn't write DVDs. I just knew it. I went to the store and bought a DVD-RW thinking mac would burn it but when i reached home and inserted the disk, the disk just came out. I don't know what to do. Now i am begining to hate my macbook..... PLEASE HELP.!!!

All the more reason to get an external DVD writer. Use it, return it. I know its unscrupulous, so keep if you feel bad Craigslist it after you use it and try and make some money back.

How old are you, 5? Calm down and stop acting so dramatic.

How old is your MacBook? Are you 100% sure it doesn't write DVDs or are you just saying that because you put a blank one in and for some reason it just spit it back out?

Yeah please tell us what kind of macbook you have so we know for sure it doesn't write to dvds. And if you only want to test windows 7, don't go through the hassle of installing it onto your drive. Just download Virtualbox or buy VMWare Fusion and create a virtual install of windows 7. I did this with VMWare fusion and windows 7 works great.

Yeah, looks like from this info that it can't burn dvds since it doesn't have a "DVD-Write:" section like mine does. If you really really want windows 7 you willl have to ask a friend with a computer that has a dvd burner to burn it for you or buy an external dvd burner.

Got an idea

Hey Guys I got an idea. Is it possible to convert virtual machine(made from parallels or vmware or virtualbox) to physical boot partition? Like in mac make a partition using ipartition or diskutility and convert the virtual machine to boot from that partition. Is it possible? If so how do you convert?

Thnx Wesrk, I followed the tutorial in the post and installed win 7 wihout using flash drive or superdrive. I did it my the vmware method described in the forum and booted using refit and it works perfectly fine. I am actaully posting with it.

Many thanks for the links! I too have been trying to find a way to install Windows from a flash drive (without EFI getting in the way).

Your MacBook would be pretty good for running a Windows 7 virtual machine if it had a little more RAM. Luckily the price for memory upgrades is pretty good right now, and Apple has some guides in their knowledgebase for installing it yourself.

Just something to think about for future upgrades! The Core 2 Duo is a great chip, and the additional memory would make it very happy, no matter what programs you plan to run.
