I want to run windows7 in bootcamp on my uMBP, and have a few questions. Can I partition the hard drive without erasing my current os x partition (which is the whole disk)? Also I can get the windows 7 64bit upgrade for extremely cheap from my university, can I install using this DVD? Or do i need a full copy? Thanks

You should be able to partition without any issues, but sometimes there is not enough contiguous space

You will need a full copy of Windows 7, not just an upgrade copy

Bootcamp will partition for you, and you shouldn't lose any data. Backup just in case.

^^What he said about upgrade versions.

You CAN do a clean install of Windows 7 with upgrade media. I've done it. There's several how-tos floating around, but this worked for me.

I am running Windows 7 installed from only the upgrade media as well. If you want it no-brainer easy (but takes a little longer), go for method #3 in the instructions linked above. Works great.
