Hello.
I have a late 2012 mini here that is currently running Mojave.
I would like to install Windows 7 using BootCamp but the assistant only accepts Windows 10 ISOs. I read online that BootCamp 6.1 (which this is) should still support Windows 7, though.

Is there some kind of trick involved or do I need an earlier version of macOS/BootCamp to get Windows 7 on this machine?

Hmm, I read on wikipedia that win7 was supported on Sierra and HighSierra bootcamp and then Apple elevated bootcamp support to windows 10 at Mojave.

3rd paragraph down

So for your 2012 mini, you can run Sierra or HighSierra and leverage the windows support drivers via Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 to run win7 via bootcamp.

Another option I read about is this method:

"What I would suggest is getting old bootcamp files and going the manual route, that is, without using Bootcamp assistant. You would create an exFat partition, get a bootable Win7 installer disk and boot into the disk to install Win7 on the exFat partition. Booting into Windows 7, you can then manually install the Bootcamp drivers. The latest Bootcamp drivers, that is Bootcamp 6 don't support windows 7/8 installation as far as I know, so you'll have to get older drivers."

Good luck.

Thank you.
I ended up installing High Sierra, then doing the BootCamp installation, and now I’m installing Catalina (which seems to be the last officially supported macOS version on the mini).
