windows 98 in boot camp

Eeew... win 98 on a Mac???? I don't see why it shouldn't work, but there could be some hardware restrictions for 98 as they didn'y have C2Ds or even much around a gig of RAM back then. But still, it should work, then upgrade.
Windows 98 is not supported. But, you should be able to boot from the XP CD and then insert the 98 CD when it asks you to.
As far as I know you cannot install Win 98 in bootcamp but, when I got my iMac I had the same problem, all I had was a upgrade install disk after a slipstream of SP 2 on the XP cd I started the instalation and had to use a FireWire CD rom that I had from my old iBook and had to put a Win 98 or 2000 CD in it to prove that I could perform the upgrade you will know what I am talking about and hear is a link to the slipstream http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

I wouldn't sugest it.
Part of boot camp is the drivers which are for Windows XP SP2. And most of the technology in the Intel Macs are way beyond what 98 was designed for. You will probably have promlems with Video, Sound, even possible Getting the Keyboard and Mouse to work. You will not be able to access the Duel Cores with 98 only one core.
In short if you can get it to run, it probably will run worse then it would on an old P2 300 mhz system.
Using VMWare or Parallels you may have a better chance at getting to run fairly well because those give you a prefered PC settings. Bootcamp basicly gives you the drivers to work on the Mac.

If you can get it to run, I can tell you it'll be a hell of alot faster than XP, on my PC windows 98 booted in half the time XP did, although this was back when it ran an athlon 2000 XP 2ghz (single core) 512mb ram and a 40gb HD, dunno if it would recognize the macs hardware, its worth a shot though.
This is by far the easiest method.
Another method, the one I have used, is to burn the sliptreamed XPSP2 and a copy of the Win98 files on a DVD (or CD if you know what you can safely eliminate).
