Hello everyone,

To start off, I'm sorry if this question has been indirectly answered, but I just could not find explicit information about using the Mac OS X server with PC's. Some of the reviews I have read said that some of the features do not work with PC's although the Apple website says it works with PC's so I am just curious what does and what does not work between the two.

Thank you for your help.

What features would you be looking to use? If you don't have any Macs it would seem pretty pointless.

It works alright

We use Open Directory at work and also share out some large RAIDs to all of our macs. We have a few Windows machines and can use both services, but there are some things you should be aware of.

If you want to use the server for authentication, you have to make sure to enable NTLM authentication(because Windows refuses to use standards) in your Open Directory setup. You also have to change the windows security(ha!) settings to NTLM v1 v2 if negotiated.

To share files is a bit simpler, all you have to do is under the windows tab in server settings set it to be a standalone server and share out your drive.

One thing to be aware of is that if you have 2 macs with windows turned on, make sure they are in the same domain or Windows(XP anyway) starts to act really strange.
