this is stupid. they dont show the screen resolution, what the product is made out of, they get the processor wrong for the macbook air and the little side note about ilife and windows live at the bottom is extremely aggravating. I mean come on, Windows Live is way worse than iLife with iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iPhoto... heres the link.... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows7/products/compare/pc-vs-mac/do-the-math?macCode=003 ooh and the macbook pro and imac sites dont even talk about thunderbolt and its extremely fast speeds.

I am a Mac/Apple Fanboy, but trust me my friend it is better to just not get involved with the fights over this. Windows users believe what they do and they always will even as all their computers and laptops fail! :apple:

Windows 7 as a whole is not bad, the laptops that manufacturers load it on to are what suck (well, most of them at least). Yes Windows has its quirks, but so does OS X, although much, much less than Windows 7 (and OS X will close to no quirks once OS X Lion is out, in my opinion). :)

The Samsung Series 9 PC that they have on the comparison site is much closer to the MacBook Air than the HP PC. Naturally, it costs more, too, so it somewhat undermines Microsoft's argument. Anyway, it's marketing fluff. All marketing fluff, whether from Apple, Microsoft, Coke or Pepsi, is going to accentuate the positives of the product it is selling and the negatives of the competition. Use whatever works for you.

+1 Its best to ignore them, even the ones that flood this forum. I've worked in IT over 10 years solely fixing Windows desktops, servers, and software and every day at work when I'm elbow deep in broken machines and requests for software fixes my co-workers still insist Windows is better, yet the Macs we have never...go...down...ever...

Mac hate is a classic example of jealousy and hating the person on top.

Yeah thats true, its the bloat-wear that makes me go against it, but everyone has their pick...:apple:

I often wonder if some of it is just a classic example of jealous, because most windows users hold on to their main argument of the price is better and they can't stand that mac users spend a bit more for their computer to make it run! :apple:

Funny, mine never did, thats why I got a iMac, not nearly as many problems...:apple:

Same here, I switched in June and I was as die hard anti-mac as they come. One month with a MacBook Pro and I converted my whole house. So much so as I threw out my linksys router for no reason and replaced it with an airport extreme.

Life using OS X is a lot less stressful. And the build quality and resale value. Enough said.

I don't know any PC people who even take resale into mind when comparing prices. You buy a $400 HP a year later it's garbage. I bought my first Macbook Pro a late 2009 model on ebay for 1000$ in June 2010 and I just sold it on Monday via ebay for 980$ before shipping. Um, try ever getting that out of a PC on a 3 yr old laptop.

The problem is many of us see our Macs as tools that either provide us a lot of utility in enjoyment while others use them to make money. About 80% of my workload is writing on a computer, and about 25% of my enjoyment when at home revolves around watching or reading on computers. For ME, Macs are an absolute bargain.

Now, if you compare people that don't see value in using a computer, because perhaps they just use it to check email, movie times, and write the rare Word document, sure they're not going to see value in spending more. In the end, we're ALL correct in what is best for us.

If I had $500 to spend on a computer, I would buy a used MacBook over a brand new low-end PC, but I completely understand those who see no value in a used MacBook. There is also the factor of learning experience, education, and business use of computers that might conflict with using a Mac... but I believe that most people who have used Macs would really have a tough time going back to a PC... if money were not a problem.

I might be able to do the same things on a PC, but I think the added costs are completely worth it because it makes working and playing more enjoyable. In addition, I don't think most consider resale value, and buying a new Mac every year costs about $250 to $350 depending on what is purchased. Now, compare that to buying a $500 PC, and at the end of one year it's worth $150 or two years it's basically worthless. In the end, the actual costs differences are minimal.

Lastly there is the software side of the argument. People that shell out $600 for Microsoft Office for Windows cannot use the software on OS X, so switching isn't just the Mac costs but also the software costs to switch platforms. I understand all who choose their own platforms for their own reasons... as long as it gets the work done it's purchased for, the minimum spent is usually the lowest cost of entry for those who need low cost alternatives. For those who prefer the enjoyment and benefits of the Mac, and the money isn't a problem, more power to them for buying what they want.

I had all of my Macs stolen once, and that sucked. Rebuying a bunch of Macs when they cannot be sold to upgrade hurts the worst and made me understand the PC side a little more... but the enjoyment of both my entertainment and work made it worth it to just rebuy all Macs.
