So I have a Windows XP sharing some files that I want to access easily on my PB. Not a problem, I go to the Finder, select Connect to Server, enter in all the relevent information and I'm off and running. Unfortunately I have to enter my user name and password for the Windows share everytime I connect to the share. Clicking on "Add to keychain" apparently does nothing. Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have Windows shares that they can access without having to enter their password everytime? Thanks!

Does exaclty the same for me (10.3.4), always has done, I have no idea why, but it's not exactly the end of the world so I don't worry about it.

Yup,..... that is irritating. is there another method. please don't blast me for asking as i just got my PB three days ago and am just embarking upon this new platform.

It won't ask you each time if your short usermname is the same as your username in windows xp. At least for me it never does, only ever asked me the first time I ever connected. I'm not sure if the passwords have to be the same either (mine just happen to be the same)

My passwords are the same, but my short names aren't the same. On windows the user name has a space in it and the shortname on OS X doesn't. I suppose I could always create another user on my WindowsXP machine and make it work that way.

I thought the point of "Add to keychain" was so I could save that difference so I wouldn't have to type it in time and time again. That is extraordinarily annoying.

Al often, the solution isn't too hard. The user you use on the mac, has to be a user on the PC. So if you log in on you mac with [John Doe] then in Windows [John Doe] has to be an excisting user, with ample rights to the share. He doesn't need to be logged in or anthing, just have enough rights to the share.

That's all.
