Windows HD on my OS X desktop, what can I do with it?

I have a 160GB Vista partition that now shows on my desktop. Can I copy files from that into OS X, and from OS X back onto that? Can I edit files on it directly?

I remember OS X said it was limited in what it could do since Vista uses NTFS, but I don't recall what it said it could and could not do. Thanks.

It really depends on how you have it formatted. I personally have mine formatted as FAT32 that way I can READ and WRITE to the partition at all times.

If you formated it to NTFS, then you should be able to read the files on the drive, but not write to the drive. (If I recall correctly)

And it says I can eject the Windows HD...what will that do? Is there a way to take it off the desktop without screwing anything up and while keeping my Mac one there?

To have both read/write access to NTFS volumes look into MacFuse & NTFS-3G or paragon, not sure about ejecting the windows drive as never tried it as it's never bothered me

Ditto to what Neil said. Also, I currenty use Paragon NTFS and can vouch for it being really solid. And yes, (if you install Macfuse or Paragon) you'll be able to read, write, and edit files both ways on your machine, just as long as you have the correct tools to do so.
