Hey Guys,

I just recently installed XP on my MBP and everything seems to be working fine, except the fact that whenever I go to shutdown in Windows, it doesn't actually shutdown. It gets to the point of logging off the user and just sticks at the 'Windows Is Shutting Down...' stage. It will sit there forever and I have manually power it down in the end. Anybody have a solution/same problem?

Thanks,
josh

Windows shutdown problems are common, even on regular PCs, and are some of the most difficult to diagnose and repair.

Usually that means some app is still running in the background and hasn't stopped yet. It could be something that you are running on startup. Try going into MSCONFIG and unchecking the apps in the startup tab one at a time until you find the culprit. Once you do you can re-enable everything else and take care of the problem app. There are other things you can try but this is a good and logical firsst step.

That would have been my first guess, and I tried that, but another thing to know is that this has been happening ever since Windows was installed. From the very git-go. I guess I just wanted to be sure that it didn't have anything to do with the BIOS that Apple uses with their boards or if there is some update Windows needed in order to run smoothly with the BIOS or whatnot. I've even tried changing the AutoEndTasks in the registry so Windows automatically just ends the hanging task, but that hasn't worked either. Thanks for your guy's help. If you come across anything let me know.
