Hi,

our 5 year old computer is giving up, and I have a question about it's windows license: we bought a version of Windows XP SP2 for it, (from the store, completely legal and completely overpriced) and now I was wondering wether it's possible to use that version of Windows for boot camp on my Macbook. The old computer will no longer be used, so that should work. My only question was wether there is something you should do on the old computer to remove the license before I install on my Mac.

thanks a lot.

It should work fine as long as it's not an upgrade disk. Plus it's legally ok.

What you could do on the older system is take all your personal files off it. Run through the windows CD install again and you'll get to a part where you can format your drive. Do this and windows will be wiped off it, then just turn off the computer never to be used again. (There are other ways to do this but are more complicated).
