Maybe, it is the way it should be, but I installed my HDD of my dead (died today) into my desktop PC as a boot drive and windows form BootCamp partition booted without problems.

That makes sense.

BootCamp is just the software management side to allow Windows to dual-boot with OS X, the proper drivers for the mac hardware, as well as allowing Windows to talk with the EFI setup of the Mac hardware.

The Windows installation is still the same as if it were installed on a normal non-Apple PC, so it makes sense that it'd work, just maybe lacking all the drivers to run properly on the other piece of hardware.
