im reading a lengthy review o the intel mac mini and the reviewer said he couldnt get WMP or Flip4MAc to work at all. This true?

windows media player on a mac mini?

I've used Flip4Mac daily on my mini for over a year now with no issues to watch WMV files.
"Note that you may be disappointed by some aspects of plug-in support on Intel Macs. While Flash 8 is Universal, thats not true for either Windows Media Player or its free replacement Flip4Mac. So if youre trying to watch a streaming Windows Media file, youll probably be out of luck. But if the movie offers a downloadable version, Windows Media Player may be able to play it under Rosettaand you can still download Windows Media Player from Microsofts Mac site. I did have mixed results with this; some movies played fine, others started playing, then stopped, while others didnt play at all."
from the review, so do you have to run it under rosetta? I dont really know what that is, and the Mini is fo rmy girlfriend who isnt that computer savy, wants things simple, thats why were gettin the mini.

I think the review you're reading is old. Flip4Mac has been Universal for awhile. Although before it was, you did have to do that Rosetta trick.
I love my mini. If you have the ability, try to get it with more than 512MB of RAM, though. 512MB is workable, but 1GB+ is a lot nicer (less pauses when you have a lot of programs going at the same time).

That should work fine on the Intel minis. They have 2 RAM slots.
If you haven't already seen how to take the mini apart, check out the link below. It's not the hardest thing I've done, but it definitely wasn't the easiest, either. (Although when I think about how much money I saved doing it myself, it seems even easier!)
