Anyone know of a place where I can download WMP for my Imac with intel

Man - that last response was really helpful. Anyway, you have two options:

First, you can download WMP 9 from the Microsoft site. MS stopped supporting the WMP for Mac altogether, but version 9 works just fine on the intel machine. Although it is running under Rosetta, I haven't noticed any issues watching WMV files this way.

Second, you can download the Flip4Mac component. The latest version available (2.0.2) requires a switch to your installer to get it to properly install on your intel machine:

-Download the Flip4Mac component from their site.
-Set your Apple Installer, in Application/Utilities, to run in Rosetta.
-Run the Flip4Mac installation program.
-Revert the Apple Installer to non-Rosetta mode.
-Set QuickTime Player to run in Rosetta mode.

This way, you can watch WMV files under Quicktime. Although neither is ideal, they both serve as work-around solutions until Telestream releases a universal/intel version of Flip4Mac.

Any questions, let me know.

Sorry I didn't give a full debriefing such as you, but I did point him in the better direction to go (which IS supported and is possibly a UNIVERSAL BINARY by now, which won't require rosetta. Why give a short term solution when long term would be better?). If you don't like it, kma.

Neither the initial installation of the component nor the actual functionality of Flip4Mac version 2.0.2 support the intel machines - both the installer and the operation require emulation under Rosetta.

Hence, no UB solution - YET. Hence, my work-around to get the guy up and on his feet for the interim. Those of us with intel machines have to improvise at times. Nature of the beast.

I hate the curt, no direction, untested "solutions" to intel mac issues on this forum from people like you who don't own these machines and have no "proof of concept" to the "advice" they give.

well thanks for the link, now this is my prob. I need something to open a .sitx file. I can't open eather of them. Thanks guys

Um - download the stuffit expander for MAC, as I posted previously. It will allow you to uncompress a .sitx file. I was a little troubled by the curt response from someone else in this thread - and perhaps he was right all along.

The task you are attempting is bloody simple. Did you read the suggestions? Don't just comment without reading and following directions...

I got it now man. thank you so much. Now I can get Adobe LightRoom

Yes but it F4M does no good to anyone with an intel Mac, as it can't be run even under rosetta. For now the best we can do is WMP 9.
