I copied a music DVD, which I own, to my mac. When I play the file it works just fine. When I move the file from one partition to another partition I get this message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region".

I move the file back and it plays just fine again. What is causing this to happen?

Right now it is on Windows. My intention is to move it to my Mac. I just tried to move it to another partition to see if it all worked. Instead of waiting on the transfer between Mac and Windows, I tried to copy and paste to the closest Windows partition.

OK. My point was that this sounds like an issue with Windows Media Player and nothing else. It may well work on a Mac...
