Hi. I've only had my mac a moth opr so but am already starting to fing Windows Media Player to be almost unusable. Videos take forever to buffer and i can't even seem to fast forward along the video etc etc. Therefore, is there any other player that will play the WMV format, and does a better job than WMP?

VLC .7 does a fairly decent job with WMV and ASF, although fast forwarding gives a weird "inverted" color for a few frames and then reverts to normal. Far more usable than WMP.

What is VLC .7 ? initials don't help if i don't already know what program you're talking about

VLC stands for VideoLanClient......but if your searching for it at VersionTracker or Macupdate search for VLC. You don't really see it as VideoLanClient.

i stand corrected. that's why it's always better to stick in that "think" :p

In addition

...mplayer also does the job...I prefer it to VLC, but between the two, there is nary a file they cannot handle...

yeah - be nice if pro came with all apples, rather than offering what even windows users ger for free

as for this vlc player, i can't get it to work. i paste a url into the player and it won't play. clicking on a wmv link just opens a blank window
